Low maintenance
In comparison to Ni- CAD batteries li ion battery needs low maintenance as they require periodic charge to ensure occurrence of the memory effect. As these batteries are not known to be

Self – discharge
A nagging issue with conventional battery is they are known to discharge rapidly. On the other hand lithium ion batteries have a low self-discharge. When you compare it to NIMH batteries the rate
is on the lower side. For the first 4 hours it only loses 5 % of the total charge as this rate comes to 1 % or 2 % every month.
No priming
After the first charge rechargeable batteries need priming. With lithium ion battery this is not the case. In other type of batteries priming is needed as the electrolytes at the battery settle down
at the bottom if you do not use it after buying. This might way for insufficient charging where battery performance may drop down. With lithium ion batteries this is not needed.
